Take a whole day to see Saigon’s many attractions. Begin in Saigon’s China Town, then learn about traditional Vietnamese medicine at the FITO Museum and peruse the incredible selection of items in Ben Thanh Market. After lunch, continue on the city tour by seeing the War Remnants Museum, learning about Vietnam’s recent history at Reunification Palace, seeing the neighboring neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and the City’s Centre Post Office, and passing by the grandiose Opera Theatre and City Hall. End your day with a sumptuous dinner as you cruise out into Saigon River, accompanied by live entertainment while floating past Ho Chi Minh City’s enchanting nighttime cityscape.

You depart the city this morning for the Ho Chi Minh Cooking Class. Before beginning your culinary course, you will get the opportunity to explore a wide range of flora, herbs, and mushrooms. The program lasts around an hour and 15 minutes and includes demos to help you learn about the diversity of Vietnamese cuisine as well as the opportunity to assist cook traditional meals. After you’ve finished your constructions, go to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a subterranean maze of passages utilized by the Viet Cong as protection from American air strikes during the Vietnam War (or “American War,” as it’s referred to here). Those inclined are invited to crawl through selections of the tunnels to better understand what life was like for the Vietnamese soldiers during wartime.

Today you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and travel to the lovely Mekong River Delta. Your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and transport you to Cai Be. Board your private sampan to explore Cai Be floating market, passing by various local house industries to learn about traditional rice paste production, rice popcorn, coco sweets, and the drying process of longans. Lunch is served at Le Longanier, an Indochinese Villa set in a lush garden by the river. Your sampan will continue on its journey to Vinh Long. You will be able to view typical Mekong delta rural life and visit bonsai gardens along the way. Many people are unaware of the existence of these evergreen islands in the Mekong River. Your driver will be waiting on the opposite side of the river to take you on a 45-minute ride to Can Tho, the largest city on the Mekong, a vibrant town with a vibrant waterfront and a colorful mix of small back alleyways and huge boulevards that allow for some exciting exploring. You have the rest of the day free.

Early in the morning, check out of the hotel and take a motor boat to the famed Cai Rang floating market. Experience daily life in the Mekong River Delta as merchants from all around the region congregate to offer fresh fruits, local specialties, and handcrafted crafts. Continue the boat journey to see the famed orchards of the Mekong Delta and try some of the fresh, unusual produce. Then travel farther into the countryside, past traditional dwellings constructed of wood and palm leaves and observing local people at work. Return to Can Tho for lunch before driving back to Saigon in the late afternoon.
