Ponagar tower in Nha Trang
Coming to the coastal city of Nha Trang, you cannot help visiting Ponagar Tower – one of the most famous historical and cultural monuments (ranked by the state) here. Ponagar Tower is a tower complex with a unique Cham architecture which was built and renovated over the Cu Lao period close to the left bank of the Cai River in Nha Trang.
According to legend, in the past at Dai An mountain (Dai Dien), a woodcutter couple came to build a house and cultivate melon on the mountain side. For a long time, whatever melon ripens is lost. The old man stalked and one day caught a girl about 9-10 years old picking melons and playing in the moon. Seeing the cute girl, he brought it and loved it like his real son.
That day, it was raining heavily, the scenery was sad, and she piled up the stone into three wild mountains, picked flowers, leaves and plugged them in and watched for fun. Thinking that the child’s behavior was not in line with the decency, he shouted loudly and scolded. Unexpectedly, she was a fairy descended.. When she was sad, she suddenly saw a part of the male period drifting by the water, so the women devote themselves to the male period to send waves.
Khuc Ky Nam drifted into the sea and then fell into a place near the royal court, the incense was overwhelming. People in the area came to see it strangely. Seeing that the wood was good, they gathered it to carry, but no people could carry it. Prince Bac Hai heard the rumor, then came to see the truth and raised his hand to try it. It was strange that the log was suddenly as light as paper. He immediately brought back the bow and cherished like a treasure.
One night, under the dim moonlight, the prince saw a fleeting shadow of people where the Ky Nam song was. But closer to watching, the four sides are deserted, only a subtle scent of the male period flies. The night after that, the crown prince continued to watch.
Then one night, he saw from the section Ky Nam came out a beautiful beauty. He rushed to, hugging the beauty. Not in time for the Ky Nam song, the lady had to follow the crown prince to the palace and give her name Thien Y Ana. The Prince saw that Ana was gorgeous, so he asked his father to marry him. The couple lived a very happy life, gave birth to two children – a boy and a girl. One day, nostalgia urged her home, Thien Y took two children to enter the male period and returned to the old village.
Dai An mountain is still there, but the woodcutter husband and wife have returned to the underworld. Thien Y built graves for his adoptive parents and renovated his house to worship. Seeing that the local people are backward, she teaches plowing, drawing, weaving, and setting out rituals …
Since then, the upland fields are always lush, the people’s lives have become more and more prosperous every day. One day, a crane flew down from the clouds. Thien Y and his two children flew to the sky with cranes … The people are grateful to her for building the statue of worship. Every year, on March 23 of lunar calendar, there is a flower offering ceremony.
The legend has been closed for a long time. Only left here the ambitious thoughts of the spectators. Sitting by the tower, the wind from the left bank of the Cai River in Nha Trang blew into the splendor, dispelling vague thoughts to return to Thap Ba. The beautiful Bong Bridge is still looking at the flowing water day by day and is always watching the changes of time. Next to it is the village of Con and the romantic Bong village, which has been in poetry for generations.
