Potala Palace: Originally built by the Tibetan unifier King Songtsen Gampo as a residence for his Han Chinese wife, Princess Wencheng. Later, the palace was renovated by the 5th Dalai Lama and became the winter palace of the Gelug (Yellow Hat) sect. Standing 170 meters tall and comprising the White Palace and the Red Palace, it is Tibet’s most magnificent and imposing architectural structure.

Jokhang Temple: Considered the holiest temple and the most revered pilgrimage site for Tibetans. It was commissioned by King Songtsen Gampo to house the statues and scriptures brought from the Tang Dynasty by Princess Wencheng. Here, you will encounter many devout Tibetans performing the *kora* (circumambulation) while holding prayer wheels, or prostrating themselves fully on the ground (*full-body prostration*) to show their reverence.
Evening: Dinner at a restaurant, followed by a return to the hotel to rest.

Sacred Yamdrok Lake

Morning: After breakfast at the hotel, the group travels to Shigatse—Tibet’s second-largest city. Sightseeing stops include:
Yamdrok Lake: One of Tibet’s four great sacred lakes, often referred to as the “Jade Treasure” due to its smooth, jade-like surface and stunning colors that shift in the sunlight. Situated at an altitude of 4,441 meters above sea level, Yamdrok is the largest inland freshwater lake on the northern side of the Himalayas. It spans 130 km in length and reaches a maximum width of 70 km, with depths ranging from 20 to 40 meters on average and a maximum depth of 60 meters. Tibetans believe the lake possesses immense, pure spiritual energy and is linked to Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava); its waters are said to cleanse sins and bestow strength upon those who touch them. Visitors can stroll along the lakeshore and savor the moment amidst the beautiful interplay of sunlight and wind reflecting off the water.
Afternoon: Following lunch, the group continues the journey to Shigatse, passing by:
Karola Glacier: A mystical, ancient glacier situated at an altitude of 5,560 meters above sea level (two-thirds the height of Everest) and covering an area of ​​9.4 km². Visible from the highway connecting Lhasa and Shigatse, it is one of the three major glaciers in this mystical region of Tibet. Overnight stay at a local 4-star hotel in Shigatse

Tashilhunpo Monastery

Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, the group departs for Lhasa. En route, visit:
Tashilhunpo Monastery: Founded by the First Dalai Lama—a disciple of the great master Tsongkhapa. Tashilhunpo is considered a prime example of Tibetan architecture, featuring intricate murals, elaborate sculptures, and vibrant prayer flags. It also serves as a major center for festivals and monastic prayer ceremonies.
Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, the group continues the journey to Lhasa.
Afternoon: Check-in at the hotel and time to rest.
Evening: Dinner at a restaurant. Afterward, guests are free to explore the city at night or attend the “Princess Wencheng” show. This is a spectacular outdoor performance set against Tibet’s magnificent natural landscape, reenacting the 1,300-year-old historical story of the marriage between Princess Wencheng and Songtsen Gampo. (Cost: 580 RMB, at own expense).
Note: The “Princess Wencheng” show typically opens in early April; performance time is approximately 21:00–22:30.

Barkhor Pedestrian Street
Debate Courtyard at Sera Monastery

Morning: After breakfast at the hotel, the group will visit:
Barkhor Street (Octagonal Street) – The heart of Lhasa, featuring numerous shops arranged in an octagonal layout. Visitors can watch Tibetans in traditional attire strolling leisurely or relax in famous local cafés—such as Sakya Ame (a favorite haunt of the 6th Dalai Lama)—to soak up the bustling atmosphere. The 6th Dalai Lama was also a renowned poet, famous for the poignant lines: “How can one find a way to satisfy both the Buddha and my beloved?” Here, the group can take photos at famous Lhasa cafés or try on traditional Tibetan costumes.
Lunch: The group will have lunch at a restaurant. Afterward, the tour continues to:
Sera Monastery – A jewel of Tibetan Buddhism. Built by a disciple of the great master Tsongkhapa, the name “Sera” means “Rose Monastery,” as the site is surrounded by abundant wild rose bushes. Along with Drepung and Ganden, Sera is hailed as one of the “Three Great Monasteries” of Tibet. The monastery is also famous for its “Debate Courtyard,” where monks engage in spirited debates on topics ranging from the philosophical to the abstract—such as the classic riddle: “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Evening: The group will have dinner at a restaurant and rest at the hotel.

Morning: The group has breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, there is free time to explore Lhasa before checking out; the vehicle and tour guide then transfer the group to the airport for the flight back to Hanoi (with a layover in Chengdu).
