Valley of Love in Dalat
Valley of Love is one of the most poetic landscapes in Da Lat, about 5 km north of the city center. That is where the Da Thien dam gathers small streams flowing from high mountains. In the 30s, the governor general of Indochina and French couples often chose this scene for dating, and then named it “Vallée d’Amour “
At first, the French called this place Valley d’Amour. By the time Bao Dai was the Head of State, it was changed to Hoa Binh Valley. In 1953, the President of the Town Council now, Nguyen Vy, made a proposal which is to change names of place from French into Vietnamese in order to express the national independence. After that, the name Valley of Love was imprinted in the minds of many people.
Valley of Love is inherently beautiful and fascinated by deep valleys and pine hills. In 1972, a dam was built horizontally to form Da Thien Lake. Visitors can follow the trails or climb hundreds of levels, go through the colorful flower gates to go up Vong Canh Hill. From here, the Valley of Love appears in a beautiful picture.
Visitors can also cross the small bridge to explore Dia Dan Hill. This is an ideal location because it is surrounded by a lake. The white balons reflect the lake surface. These are convenient locations for fishing or chatting. In the midst of windy nature, visitors seem to be lost in a fairyland.
