Domaine de Marie Church
Domaine de Marie Church is a famous architectural complex in Da Lat city. This place is also known as Vinh Son church because this is the chapel of the Sister Tu Ai Vinh Son soeurs which is also known as the Mai Anh Church. This is an architectural cluster consisting of a chapel and two rows of Bac Ai Thanh Vinh Son’s monastery with a total area of 12 hectares located on Ngo Quyen Street, about 1 km southwest of Dalat city center. .
Domaine de Marie Church is located on windswept Mai Anh hill on Ngo Quyen street.
Thanks to this architectural layout, there are many innovative points compared to the classical Western churches. With a width of 11m and a length of 33m, the main entrance split into two stairs and re-entered the main hall. In particular, the Domaine de Marie church does not have a bell tower as other churches.
The most unique feature of this church is the roof system which is shaped like the communal house of the Central Highlands ethnic group. The entire church is painted in pink, honoring the majesty of a religious work. In the early morning, the church shines brightly.
In the church, there is a statue of Our Lady standing on a globe carved in the model of Vietnamese women. This statue was designed by Jonchère – a French architect.
Behind the church is an architectural complex designed in a modern style, consisting of three blocks of 3-storey houses of the Sisters of Bac Ai, surrounded by patio, yellow-painted walls, red tiled roof.
While bringing the look of local traditional architecture, Domaine de Marie Church has been shown with entirely Vietnamese materials.
