Spend the day away from the bustling city of Saigon by driving to Ben Tre Province. En way, stop at Vinh Trang Pagoda, a historic southern architectural wonder in Tien Giang. When you arrive at Hung Vuong Pier, take your own boat for a view of the delta countryside while sipping coconut juice. Visit fruit orchards, coconut groves, brick workshops, and homemade items like coconut sweets, rice cakes, handicrafts, and so on to learn about the Mekong Delta’s distinct way of life. After a short stroll to a local family to learn how to create sedge mats and eat tea and tropical fruits, ride a “Xe Loi,” a type of motorized rickshaw, or get on your bicycle and pedal through scenic towns (about 20 minutes). Stop for an excellent and satisfying lunch at a riverfront eatery. Then take a sampan for a leisurely cruise across small waterways. In the village, stay in a guesthouse.
