Thanh Hoa, HCMC post highest tourism revenues during holidays

The north-central province of Thanh Hoa topped the country in terms of tourism revenues during the five-day holidays with over VND3.8 trillion (US$150 million), up 32.5% from last year.

It was followed by HCMC with VND3.2 trillion during the Reunification Day and Labor Day holidays that wrapped up on Wednesday, up 2%.

Hanoi was third with VND2.5 trillion, a 10% rise, according to data from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

The northern province of Quang Ninh ranked fourth with VND2.2 trillion, and Nghe An was fifth with over VND1.7 trillion.

Due to the prolonged heat wave, many popular beach destinations like Thanh Hoa, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Vung Tau witnessed an increase in tourist numbers from last year as people sought refuge from the weather.

Despite high airfares, eight million people traveled during the holidays, up 14.2%.
