808 Residence Bali Hotel Review — One of the best places to stay in Canggu, Bali
When we talk about Bali, we’re talking about a resort paradise with stunning beaches and quiet green terraced farms. What could be more enjoyable than living in a separate villa surrounded by the dominant green of rice fields and coconut trees, all of which are lovely, or the apartment area with a stunning blue swimming pool?
The 808 Residence Bali Hotel (808 Residence Canggu Bali) is one of the locations I stayed when visiting Bali; this hotel surprised me with its airy space, layout, and themes, which made me fall in love at first sight.
The location of 808 Residence Bali
Address: Jl. Nelayan No.77X, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia
Hotel 808 Residence Bali is located in Canggu (Batu Bolong neighborhood), about 1 hour drive from Denpasar Airport, close to the northern area of Kuta. You can take a taxi from the airport for around IDR 300.000, or find Grab or Uber or a private transfer service with a better price of only around IDR 150.000. In the opposite direction, from the hotel to the airport, ask the staff to call a taxi for a fixed price of IDR 200.000, a 7-seat car.
It’s only a three-minute walk from the beach, and it’s a great place to view the sunset. This Canggu beach extends with excellent sand, and because many travelers reside here, the beach is constantly busy. Berawa Beach is 0.6 km away, Echo Beach is 1 km away, and Batu Bolong Beach is 0.5 km away.
Furthermore, the hotel is located distant from the city, surrounded by lush green rice fields, so the environment is light and breezy. My initial impression from the cab was one of incredible tranquillity.
Hotel amenities and interiors
Of course, it was serene at first sight when I stood in front of the hotel entry gate; the door was fairly modest, tidy, and delicately painted. The open environment with a huge swimming pool, flowing seductive, and a series of homes constructed around the pool, stylish and extremely attractive, was a pleasant surprise upon entering. I discovered that the owner of this hotel also has 5 gorgeous villas similar to this one in Bali.
The hotel offers 11 rooms, which are separated into different categories such as Deluxe Room, Standard Room, and Apartment Room. For the entire family, there is a Duluxe Room with Balcony and a Family Room. All rooms feature an LCD TV, a bathroom and a toilet, as well as a tea and coffee maker. My room is directly close to the swimming pool, with transparent glass windows overlooking the pool and plenty of natural light. There is free WiFi throughout the resort.
Breakfast is not included in the room rate when you book, but you will need to purchase it individually when staying here, which costs $3 per person/meal. However, there is one aspect that I appreciate: the hotel allows guests to borrow motorbikes for free; all you have to do is leave your passport and take the motorbike; the helmet is also enough; and all you have to do is fill up with gas and tour the lovely Bali island. The price of gasoline on the island is between IDR 7.500 and IDR 7.500 per liter.
Room rates at 808 Residence range from $30 – $120 depending on the room type.
Restaurants, places to hang out, visit near the 808 Residence Bali Hotel
Right across the street from the hotel is an excellent restaurant, sometimes known as an eatery, café, or guesthouse. This Serenity Eco Guest House restaurant specialized on vegetarian food, but after coming in, ordering, and learning, I learnt a lot about the benefits of veggies and vegetarian meals on human health. The restaurant’s processing is also extremely eye-catching, making it more appealing to consumers, and the way they present the cuisine, delivering information about health education in a subtle way, is also a very valuable learning point.
Nothing beats taking a motorbike to the adjacent Seminyak entertainment district, which has numerous lively clubs and restaurants, in the evening. This was the time when travelers congregated in huge numbers on motorbikes to go out and have fun on country roads that seemed like bustling streets. Drinks at pubs are also quite inexpensive, costing only IDK 30.000 – 50.000 per bottle of beer or drink.
The Tanah Lot Temple is the closest notable site to the hotel, which is around 15-20 minutes away by motorbike. It takes at least an hour to drive to additional destinations such as Ubud in the north or Uluwatu in the south of the island. I’m not sure how, Bali is enormous!
Overall
Overall, everything at 808 Residence makes me feel comfortable, enjoyable, and saves me a lot of money on rent for the motorcycle. The hotel personnel is really enthusiastic, speaks excellent English, and is available at all times to satisfy your requirements. Even though we checked out in the morning and spent the entire day and evening getting our belongings to the airport, they still unlocked the door for us to take a shower and order a cab for us.
Every day, I wake up in a calm dreamland, light, sunny, and cool, swimming around the pool, having breakfast, resting, and feeling like there is nothing finer. It makes me want to have a private apartment in Bali, where I can live a peaceful life!
