Overview

Explore the temples and history of South East Asia in a week, travelling from Cambodia to Myanmar. Wander amongst the overgrown statues of Angkor Thom where 54 towers with enigmatic faces look on as you walk among them. Watch the sun highlight the beautiful carved apsara dancers as it sets over Angkor Wat and visit the stilt villages around Tonle Sap Lake. Head to Myanmar where you could take a hot-air balloon ride over Bagan’s temple studded plains before cycling between the pagodas and small villages you’ve already admired from above. Watch the fishermen trawl Lake Inle with their iconic cone shaped nets before finishing with a stroll around the golden shrines of Yangon where you can stop at tiny tea-shops and browse the markets for Burmese trinkets.

Itinerary

Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival

Upon arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, meet and then transfer direct to hotel. Remain of the day is free and overnight at hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 2: Siem Reap – Angkor Thom – Angkor Wat

Breakfast at hotel, first visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom which is famous for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone, the impressive Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch at local restaurant.

Afternoon, continue to seeing the architectural masterpiece of Angkor Wat. We stroll around this massive monument, exploring the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple. Overnight at hotel in Siem Reap.

Day 3: Banteay Srei – Tonle Sap

After breakfast, visit the temple of Banteay Srei temple (women’s castle), it is considered a classic pearl in the crown of Khmer art. Then continue to visit Banteay Samre, established in the third quarter of the 12th century. It consists of a central temple consists of two four-winged library a hall before and after example of very good southern accompany reservations. Lunch at local restaurant.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip at the Tonle Sap, about 16 km from the southeastern city of Siem Reap. Here is a good choice for you to visit the floating village. This is a relatively small village, provides a good insight into the Tonle Sap village lifestyle. The village is almost entirely in fishing and related activities. If the time permitted, before returning to the hotel, we will stop at Old Market. You will find artifacts, gold and silver jewelery, precious stones, silk, stone and wood carvings, as well as shirts, CD and other memorabilia. Then, back to Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Siem Reap – Fly to Yangoon

Free time until transfer to Siem Reap airport for flight to Yangon.

Arrive at Yangon International Airport and welcome by our tour speaking guide. Transfer to hotel for check in. The tour sightseeing start for visit to the old colonial-style city center with city hall, Mahabandoola Park with Independence Monument, Strand road and Yangon Jetty by Car (if time permit, you can observe and take a rest for drinking tea or coffee at Colonial building Strand Hotel (5 star hotel). Then continue visit to Botahtaung Pagoda and Ahma Mya Nan Nwe, a devotee to the Botahtaung Pagoda. She was known to be a dragon guarding the pagoda and Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market, is the most popular market (close on every Monday & Public holiday) and where you can buy luxury item, handicrafts, food stuff, clothing, jewelry, fashion and consumer goods.

In the afternoon, the tour visit to Chaukhtatgyi (Reclining Buddha) Pagoda a colossal reclining Buddha and continue visit to Karaweik Hall Royal barge on the Royal lake for photo stop and world famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Witness the golden dome light up sunshine at the sunset. Overnight at Yangon.

Day 5: Yangon – Fly to Bagan

Early morning transfer to the airport to take domestic flight to Bagan. Arrive at Bagan, transfer to the hotel for check in. The tour visit to the one of Asia’s most popular archeological destination. We will visit colorful Naung U Market and visit some of Bagan most famous pagodas, including Shwezigon Pagoda, which is the most important reliquary shrine and house images of 37 Nats in Bagan. Then, continue visit to Kyansittha Uhmin (Cave), Gupaukgyi Temple, it is a 13th century cave temple with interesting fine frescoes of sconces from the Jataka. At afternoon, the tour continue visit to Htilominlo Temple with old murals and friezes and then approach to Tharabar Gate way into Old Bagan. Then, visit to Ananda Temple it is a whitewashed masterpiece and with four standing Buddha Images, Thetbyinnyu Temple, Dhamayangyi Temple which is famous for its interlocking mortar thickest brickwork. Late afternoon, continue to Shwesandaw Pagoda for beautiful sunset and then transfer to hotel and overnight in Bagan.

Day 6: Bagan – Mount Popa – Bagan

After breakfast, proceed on a scenic overland journey to Mount Popa. It is an extinct volcano which 1518 meters (4981 feet) above sea level, set mid lovely hill and forest scenery. The Popa Taungkalat Shrine is home to 37 Mahagiri Nats, or spirits, Satues depicting the Nats are at the base of the shrine. From the top of Taung Kalat, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the ancient city of Bagan. Late afternoon, return back to Bagan and on the way, refreshment stopover at local small factory of palm sugar alcohol refinery and observe how to make Jaggery. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 7: Bagan – Fly to Mandalay – Amarapura

After breakfast at hotel, fly to Mandalay. Arrive at Mandalay, directly drive to visit Amarapura. Highlights include Mahagandayon Monastery which is a school for young monks and observe the lunch process in morning, U Bein Bridge which is more than two centuries old and at 1.2 km longest teakwood span in the world. On the way, visit to the tradition hand-weaving silk workshop.

In the afternoon, sightseeing tour of Mandalay includes Mahamuni Pagoda, gold of hammering, Mandalay Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda by surrounding 729 inscribed marble slabs, known as “the world’s largest book”, Shwenandaw “Golden Palace Monastery” to observe finest Myanmar wooden architecture, and visit Atumashi Monastery. Day 8: Mandalay – Fly to Heho – Pindaya – Inle Lake

After breakfast, fly to Heho. Upon arrive Heho, drive to the hills and across the Shan Plateau to visit Pindaya Cave, is the natural limestone cave and Shwe U Min Paya which is full of Buddha images of about 8000. Continue the picturesque Boutaloke Lake and visit local handicraft workshop in which making traditional Shan Paper and Umbrella. Late afternoon, take a fresh breath and photo stop for beautiful big banyan trees at the base of the Pindaya Hill. Transfer to Nyaung Shwe jetty to take boat transfer to hotel and overnight in Inle Lake.

Day 9: Inle Lake

After breakfast, morning visit one of the 5 Days rotation market (only on market day) and sightseeing for magical Inle Lake, which is located 1328 meters above sea level and 22 km long and 11 km wide. Highlights include the fisherman rowing in the one-legged style characteristic of Inle Lake boatmen and the gardens of grass and earth floating on the surface of this shallow lake used for growing vegetables. Besides the enjoyment of the scenery we can also visit the holiest religious site Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, Silk Weaving Village of Inphawkhon, Burmese Cats House, Cheroot making and other cottage industries. Then, visit to Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, a beautiful old teak wood building before transfer to hotel and overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Heho – Yangon – Departure

Breakfast at hotel, drive to Heho Airport for domestic flight to Yangon. Arrival at Yangon, connect to Yangon international airport for your departure flight.
