Daredevil slackliner crossing a waterfall in amazing pictures, Brazil
These stunning pictures capture a daredevil adrenaline junkie rope walking across a waterfall just as the beautiful arc forms around him.
Brazilian highliner Reginaldo Gomes, 34, crossed the Cachoeira da Fumaça – the Waterfall of Smoke – in his native country after two years spent honing his technique.
He said the “intense noise” of the water below him made him a bit nervous as he was photographed from the bank by his friend Vinicius Cauhy.
Following the heart-stopping high line stunt, the 34-year-old said: It was magic. Because of the smoke from the waterfall and the sun’s reflection, you could see rainbows of various angles and sizes.
The sheer volume of water and the intense noise makes you a bit nervous.
And at that time you have to stay calm, take a deep breath and walk. I feel very privileged to be able to do this.’
He added: “Highlining in the smoke waterfall is very special – you feel very involved by nature.”
The swallows fly very close to the line pack, the waterfall breeze touches your face and the noise makes you ignore any sound. It really is magical.
Last week, Reginaldo took on the job of photographer when he pictured Faith Dickey, 26, from Austin, Texas, cross the Pedro da Gávea in Rio de Janeiro in a pair of high heels.
Fearless Faith confidently crossed the high line, which is suspended 840 metres above sea level, in a pair of bright pink heels – with only a slim cord attaching her to the safety line.
Reginaldo said: “Everybody was so impressed by how Faith moved. She won the Brazilians over with her smile and how lightly she stepped over on the highline. I have never seen anything like it before – I’ve taken photos of highliners, but one wearing a pair of heels is completely different. It was an amazing moment, everybody was in awe of her and it felt like the entire festival had been waiting for something that special.”
