Over the past 20 years we’ve organised many private and group tours especially for Vietnam veterans and our years of experience and specialist knowledge means we can arrange an itinerary that is both specific and compassionate. With expert local knowledge of the former Australian base at Nui Dat and many other significant sites throughout the country, we'll also introduce you to the new Vietnam, a beautiful country that is home to lush landscapes, gorgeous beaches, thriving cities and timeless rural scenes.

Vietnam veterans tour - 15 days (35 travellers)

Returning to Vietnam, encounter a nation of people rich in culture, tradition and history with a refreshing warmth and friendliness unequalled in South East Asia, a people who have put the war-torn past behind them and are clearly focused on a brighter future. Visit the former Australian base at Nui Dat and surrounding areas with a local guide that is an expert in the area and its history. Discover fertile plains, spectacular coastline, bustling cities and street markets, and faded elegance from the French-colonial era.


On arrival in Hanoi, meet your Travel Indochina representative, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a delicious evening meal with the group. The next day discover some of Hanoi's highlights including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, the infamous 'Hanoi Hilton' prison and the iconic One Pillar Pagoda. Dine on a delicious lunch at KOTO, a restaurant which trains disadvantaged children in hospitality skills. At night, a fascinating Water Puppets performance awaits.


Head to magical Halong Bay for an overnight cruise among the limestone islands of this World Heritage listed wonder. An overnight stay allows you to travel deep into the bay, with time to visit some of the local caves and enjoy a delicious seafood dinner under the stars. Enjoy lunch on board before returning to Hanoi by bus.


Fly to the former imperial capital of Hue, beautifully located on the banks of the Perfume River. This afternoon, visit a hand embroidery centre for the opportunity to be taken through the embroidery-making process step-by-step. The next day you'll visit the impressive home of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors, the Citadel, and travel to the much revered Thien Mu Pagoda by dragon boat along the Perfume River.


Head to Danang via spectacular Hai Van Pass on one of the most beautiful drives in Vietnam. Arrive in the former trading port of Hoi An after lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. The next day, discover the quaint streets and interesting historical buildings of Hoi An on a guided walking tour. In the afternoon, you may like to hire a bicycle and visit the nearby beach, do a spot of shopping or simply relax by the pool. Tonight you have the chance to take part in a fun cooking class.


Fly to Saigon, and transfer to your hotel on arrival. Take a walking tour of the city's famous and historic landmarks, like the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum. Experience the hustle and bustle of Cholon, the Chinatown district of the city where we visit the huge Binh Tay wholesale market and the ornate Thien Hau Temple, dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea. Enjoy some free time to explore the city on your own before visiting the nearby Cu Chi Tunnels.


Transfer to Saigon Bach Dang Jetty for your Hydrofoil transfer to Vung Tau, a popular beach resort on the South China Sea. The rest of the day is free to visit the beach, relax in cafes, or explore the town by bicycle. The next day, travel to Ba Ria and on to the former Australian base at Nui Dat. Other visits include Long Phuoc Tunnels, Long Tan Cross, the Horseshoe and drive through the Long Hai hills. On your final day in Vung Tau there will be a joint Australian and Vietnamese commemorative ceremony in Ba Ria at the Long Phouc Memorial. On your final afternoon, transfer to the wharf for your return Hydrofoil to Saigon. Upon arrival in Saigon, transfer to the airport.
